Description:
Estrellita (“Little Star”) tells the story of a singer wishing upon a shooting star. Composed by Manuel Ponce, the melody became famous after Jascha Heifetz heard it performed in a Mexico City café. This expressive arrangement helps students develop a singing tone while exploring rubato and shifting tempos. Players reinforce dotted quarter note rhythms and important finger patterns, including low 1, low 2, and high 3. A beautiful choice for developing string orchestra, Estrellita blends lyrical expression with valuable skill building.
