Description:
Brightly colored kittens, playing the double bass...out of that bizarre image comes a piece that is equal parts playful and practical. Students will explore chromatic low 2/high 2 fingerings for violins and violas, matched with chromatic lines for cello and bass. Glissandi passages help to reinforce good technique by avoiding left hand squeezing and the piece ends with low 1/high 1 patterns for an added challenge. All parts have melodic moments but best of all the basses take center stage as the stars of the performance!
