Iguazú (2023) premieres Nov. 18th performed by the Sequoia Symphony Orchestra

The Sequoia Symphony Orchestra commissioned me to write a brand-new orchestral work for the California Reflections program happening all over the state in November. Iguazú for Orchestra (2023) the wonderful musicians of the Sequoia Symphony Orchestra will premiere it and bring it to life on Saturday, November 18 at 7:30pm at the Visalia Fox Theater under the baton of Maestro Bruce Kiesling. Hope you can join us!

Here’s a little bit about the work:

Iguazú for Orchestra is a 17-minute programmatic work that depicts four scenes from Iguazú Falls back when I visited the beautiful site in 2018 for my honeymoon. The piece is structured into four movements as follows:

I. El Poder Misterioso de las Cataratas
(The Mysterious Power of the Waterfalls)

II. Los Monos y Coatíes Traviesos
(The Mischievous Monkeys and Coatíes)

III. Baile de las Mariposas
(Dance of the Butterflies)

IV. La Garganta del Diablo
(The Devil’s Throat)
